Family Reunion Groups Flock to Long Point Conference Centre

Long Point Conference Centre provides an ideal venue for groups looking for family reunion accommodation in NSW.
Long Point Conference Centre, formerly known as Long Point Camp, is increasingly becoming the go-to destination for family groups wishing to reunite after years of separation. Traditionally, the venue has been booked by Christian and other religious groups, and school groups looking for a weekend away have also favoured Long Point’s comfortable and modern facilities, tucked away in the secluded Long Point bushland area.

So what is it exactly that makes LPCC such an attractive venue for large family groups? We met with one of the group event co-ordinators and asked a few pointed questions.

Firstly, tell us about the venue, what do you have to offer in the way of accommodation?

We can currently sleep groups of up to 150 guests. In addition to two large dormitory buildings, there are 10, modern, air-conditioned cabins, each featuring a small fridge, kitchen counter and basic utensils. The accommodation is perfectly suited for family groups.

Are there any particular nationalities or ethnic groups who tend to be drawn to your venue?

There are groups from a variety of ethnic backgrounds who come and stay here. Recently we’ve had a lot of enquiries from the Samoan community – these groups appear to have a vibrant family-oriented culture, and it’s obvious to us that Long Point Conference Centre provides an ideal venue for such groups, and other groups looking for family reunion accommodation in NSW.

Do you also provide catering?

Definitely! Many groups that stay with us prefer the catered option, where all meals are provided and washing up is taken care of by our staff. For those that wish to cook for themselves, we provide exclusive use of our modern and fully equipped commercial kitchen for their entire stay.

What can you offer in the way of recreational activities?

There’s a decent sized swimming pool with an adjoining wood-fire sauna, which can be used on request. The grounds feature a cricket pitch, two volleyball courts and a soccer field, and for those who like table tennis, this is available at the back of the auditorium.

You mention there’s an auditorium – what’s the seating capacity?

It can comfortably seat 200 people. There’s a multi-media projector which provides a high quality visual, and a 24-channel sound mixer. It’s an excellent function room, and can easily be re-arranged to cater for various indoor activities. The hall connects directly to a small kitchen, perfect for serving snacks and refreshments.

As we took the tour around Long Point Conference Centre, we discovered that there was even more on offer. Adjoining the commercial kitchen, we found a cosy “Charlie’s Cafe”, where the barista on duty served us a delicious latte, before we wandered over to the children’s playground, which included a huge sandpit. Sitting down with my hosts at one of the shaded café tables nearby, it wasn’t difficult to understand why family reunion groups are queuing up to book their stay at one of the best family retreats NSW has to offer.
