Biliju And the Planet Bilirose, by Yseult Pierre – An Exciting Children’s Adventure Book that Defies Time
Ontario, Canada – March 20, 2019 – Few books remain all-time favorites and become classics. Those that do are dearly loved. “Biliju and the Planet Bilirose” by Yseult Pierre is such a book. It is published in 4 languages, English, French, Spanish, and soon in Japanese. The inspiration for the book came one morning in 1978 when Yseult was fulfilling her friend’s young daughter’s wish to tell her a story. Her impromptu story-telling, nourished by her love of Nature, was fleshed out with her illustrations and saw in 1982 its publication in French as “Bilijou”.
Yseult published the English e-version of Bilijou in 2013 but let it dormant. In 2018, a “book scout” company found Bilijou and evaluated it at 8.9 before sending their recommendation to Toplink who contacted Yseult for re-publishing. It’s astounding that the book stood the test of time. A few changes in the illustrations were made by the author to give it a universal appeal – Nicholas’ hair color and the shape of the Tower were adapted.
“Biliju and the Planet Bilirose” recounts the story of a little boy saving his planet with the help of a kind- hearted creature from another dimension. It is the adventure of a lifetime where Nicholas is transported to planet Bilirose by his newfound friend to find answers to his questions.
“Biliju and the Planet Bilirose” is an inspiration. Yseult can never forget the countenance she saw on her friend’s young daughter’s face as she told the story of Bilijou back in 1978 – she trusts that that’s how all the children who read Bilijou and will read “Biliju and the Planet Bilirose” would react.
Yseult recently received email from a reader who said his father used to read him the book when he was very young and left a very deep impression on him. He now wants to share it with his kids. The story will open children’s mind on the importance of mindfulness toward Nature, and give them the confidence that they can accomplish anything that comes from the heart.
Yseult Pierre finds her inspiration mostly in the beauty of Nature. Other sources of inspiration are with Yogananda, Carl Jung, Roal Dahl, to name a few. Her favorite quote is from Rumi, Persian philosopher and mystic of the 13th century: “Gamble everything for love if you’re a true human being.”
The 1982 publication of Bilijou was a roaring success with mothers swearing by it – that gave Yseult Pierre the incentive to publish it in English under the title “Biliju and the Planet Bilirose” and to prepare a series on which she is currently working.
About the author
Born in Longueuil, Quebec, Yseult is a dreamer. After serious studies in Fine Arts, her experience as schoolbook illustrator, her dreams about a funny extra-terrestrial creature and her love of Nature resulted in the publication of the book Bilijou in 1982.
