Marin County California Pushing Sustainability Goals With Addition of More EV Charging Stations at Marin Rowing Association

Corte Madera, CA – March 26, 2019 – Leading the national trend for sustainability and the fight against climate change, the Marin Rowing Association (MRA) today announced that it has added 4 additional electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at their facility in Marin County

A new analysis from the scientific research nonprofit International Council on Clean Transportation predicts more than 3 million EVs will roam the country by 2025. In California alone, their analysis finds that the state may come up almost 41,500 chargers short. According to J.P Morgan, the growth in electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) is climbing and by 2025, EVs and HEVs will account for an estimated 30% of all vehicle sales.

“We recognize that our facility is located in a particularly desirable place and we could help the community in a meaningful way,” emphasized Sandy Armstrong, MRA Executive Director. “We are walking distance to many multi-tenant buildings where residents need charging, the Bon Air Shopping Center, The Marin Country Mart, the Larkspur Ferry Terminal and the trail along Corte Madera Creek. It’s also 2 minutes off the 101 freeway.”

“Special thanks to MCE, Bay Area Air Quality Management District, ChargePoint, Integrity Electric and the MRA members whose generous contributions made this possible,” highlighted John Younger, MRA Board Member, Rower and Chairman of HireMojo (www.hiremojo.com). “The MRA boathouse continues to set new standards for facilities of this kind within the United States. With our existing 28kW of solar power and MCE’s Deep Green electricity service, the MRA facility and these chargers are truly 100% renewable.”

“Transportation is the largest greenhouse gas-emitting sector in our service area and in California,” said Dawn Weisz, CEO of MCE. “We’re grateful to the Marin Rowing Association for taking advantage of MCE’s rebates for EV charging stations; together we can reduce vehicle-related emissions and provide greater access to EV charging where people live and work.”
