Miami Attorney Beau A. Blackwell Takes On Florida’s Property Insurers

Miami Attorney, Beau A. Blackwell, is drawing attention for confronting Florida property insurance companies on behalf of property owners facing damage from Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Michael.  Mr. Blackwell works out of the Miami office of the law firm Weil, Snyder, Schweikert & Ravindran, P.A., and has handled thousands of property insurance disputes.  His outspoken criticism of Florida’s insurance industry has gained him praise from Florida families to the chagrin of Florida’s biggest insurance companies.

“Hundreds of thousands of Florida property owners sustained damage from Hurricane Irma in 2017 and Hurricane Michael in 2018.  As of April 2019, the Florida Office of Insurance regulation’s most recent date shows over 300,000 Hurricane Irma and 19,000 Hurricane Michael property insurance claims have not been paid,” said Beau Blackwell, Florida Licensed Attorney.  “Florida families and business owners pay their insurance premiums month after month, and when disaster strikes, some insurers delay, deny, underpay, or flat-out ignore valid insurance claims,” continued Attorney Beau Blackwell.  “We have numerous clients with damage from Hurricane Irma in September of 2017 who are still waiting for payment,” stated Mr. Blackwell.

Hurricane Michael hit Florida in October of 2018 and was the most powerful hurricane to strike the Florida Panhandle.  Florida’s Office of Insurance regulation estimates that the total losses exceed 6 billion dollars.[1] Hurricane Michael made landfall just over a year after Hurricane Irma ravaged the state of Florida.    Losses from Hurricane Michael exceed 11 billion dollars.[2]

Miami Attorney Beau A. Blackwell has gained notoriety for challenging insurance companies when they mistreat Florida property owners.  Mr. Blackwell is not only speaking out about insurer misconduct, he is taking insurance companies to court when they fail to pay property owners the amount required under their insurance policies.
