Herts Carpets the Hertfordshire based flooring supplier and installation business has agreed formal terms to open its first flooring store in Harpenden, Hertfordshire. The store will be located in Southdown, Harpenden, and will incorporate the existing ranges of carpets and flooring, along with a number of new suppliers, such as Victoria Carpets, Cormar Carpets, Westex Flooring, Crucial Trading and much more.

Herts Carpets was established by Matt Lenzie, founder and Director in October 2016, initially offering an online only flooring proposition, accompanied by a mobile estimating service, giving customers a convenient estimating service in the comfort of their own home. The business has grown quickly and now has a team of 10 people, including 2 full time estimators and 6 fitter contractors. Herts Carpets covers, St Albans, Harpenden, Watford, Hemel Hempstead, Hatfield, Stevenage, along with Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and everywhere in between.

Matt Lenzie said of the new store: “we have quietly trying to identify the right retail location for our business, as we did not want to take on a large unit with the associated overhead, so this property in Southdown, Harpenden gives us a perfect starting platform for those customers who wish to visit us in store. Our carpet and flooring business has grown quickly and we are now at the point that we feel that we need a physical presence to satisfy some of our customers who like to visit at a point of sale. We have a clear growth strategy, which involves a continued push for digital marketing, as well as running digital advertising campaigns and much more to come and we hope that this will continue to grow our business further.”

“We have invested heavily in technology for our business and have implemented a CRM system which gives us the capability to further scale up, with a target of doubling the size of the business over the next 12 months. Most importantly we are seeking to maintain the same level of service to our flooring customers in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, and hopefully improve this further.”

“We are currently completing between 80-100 estimates for our customers per week and are now seeking to further expand this with the appointment of an additional estimator in the coming months. We are also completing between 30-40 installations per week and are aiming to increase this number further to 50-60 installations per week, so we will be again seeking a further team of fitters to join our existing contractors that we work with.”

“Securing a retail outlet means that we are now in a position to further extend the number of flooring and carpet brands that we work with, which should further reduce the prices that we can offer to our customers, as opposed to securing some of our flooring through wholesalers, which we have been working with historically. This will also inevitably improve the quality of the materials which we stock and sell, we are extremely excited by this proposition and look forward to working with the customers that this brings. Our business and its team have a close relationship with Harpenden and we hope that our proposition will resonate with local residents.”
