Battle at Bogs Hollow by Sheri-Lynn Kenny – the Author of 6 Children’s Books Publishes another Exciting Book for Children

“Battle at Bogs Hollow” follows the story of best friends Freddy, Tommy, and Phinney – they live in the Bogs Hollow together with many animals. They lead quiet and peaceful lives until the yellow monsters arrive and terrorize Bogs Hollow. What follows is how the best friends attempt to save the only home they know from the invaders. In this story, Sheri-Lynn Kenny teaches children about biodiversity, the human impact on the environment, how to be courageous, stand up for themselves and overcome adversity.
The six other children’s books from Sheri-Lynn Kenny all have lessons embedded within the stories to help children conquer learning milestones. Kitchen of Many Colors teaches children about new friendships, family, fire safety, and multiculturalism. Counting Kittens teaches children counting, grouping, addition, and subtraction. The Alphabet According to Dewey covers the alphabet using different words from traditional ABC books. The Adventures of Digbee – Have You Seen My Touque teaches children about helping, Canadian animals and colors. The Adventures of Digbee – Mud Flat Bullies teaches children about friendship, bullying, and generosity. Born to Be Me – teaches children about embracing their uniqueness and seeing their strengths. A lot of facets children need to grow up into wholesome adults are incorporated into these books.
All the books were published after Sheri-Lynn Ken completed training as an elementary teacher (K-8). She wrote her stories to help explain the lesson plans she had developed from the teacher’s college and substituting in classrooms. She also got plenty of inspiration from friends who have had a wide variety of experiences.
“Battle at Bogs Hollow” and all the six books look into situations kids face and provide them an understanding of the specific topics that need an explanation. And, they are presented in interestingly written and beautifully illustrated books.
About the author
Sheri-Lynn Kenny was born and raised in White River Ontario. Sheri-Lynn Kenny graduated from Michipicoten High School in Wawa Ontario in 1992. She went to the Royal Roads Military College and graduated with a BA in English and Psychology from Royal Military College of Canada. She served in the Canadian Navy after graduation for 13 years. During Sheri’s time in the Navy, she traveled extensively and collected stories to tell. After leaving the Navy, she pursued a Bachelor of Education focusing on grades K to 8. Sheri spent several years as a substitute teacher before officially publishing her first book Battle at Bogs Hollow. Since then she has published six other children’s books and a field guide.
