Samm Bate is a signed model from London, who caught the attention of netizens with his doe eyes, mesmerizing close-up shots and photo shoots in gender-bending outfits. He is a successful model having done shoots with some of the major brands and fashion houses, the most recent of which is the Tesco’s Christmas advertisement of 2018. He is registered with a leading modeling agency, ‘Important models’ and currently working on multiple projects at the same time.

We got in touch with Samm to know more about him and his modeling career so far. In this candid interview, he talks about his big break, upcoming projects and more!

Interviewer: Give us a brief about your background.

Samm Bate: Hi! Well I grew up in Wokingham (Just outside of London) which is a relatively small little village and come from a French and British heritage.

Interviewer: What inspired you to become a model?

Samm Bate: I actually wasn’t inspired at first, I was kind of forced into doing it for a college project but this was then published and I was contacted by my first modelling agency, which I went on to do some wonderful things. Stuff has just progressed from there. I always find it funny, because when I was in school I always hated my face and who I was and now, that’s what I get paid for.

Interviewer: Tell us something about the modeling projects you have done.

Samm Bate: I have worked on a lot of stuff, I am obsessed with breaking the gender barrier and androgynous looks, which you can probably see. I have walked fashion week for “Gunsmoke and Lavender”, Fashion week men’s, Joshua Kane Bespoke and have been featured in Vogue Italy, Pause magazine and many more.

Interviewer: What does a typical day in your life look like?

Samm Bate: It depends, a lot of running around! During Fashion week men’s, I can do up to 10 castings in a day. Skin care is probably one of the most time consuming things, I am currently on the Korean skincare routine and it takes me 30 minutes in the morning and evening!

Interviewer: We hear you are getting into acting as well?

Samm Bate: I am really interested in getting into acting again, after being featured in this Tesco commercial. I did come from a Musical theatre background but looking to move into the screen acting. I have a lot of upcoming stuff, which I can’t discuss
