Speaking about Sterling Media’s win, Global CEO Natasha Mudhar said: “We are deeply honoured and humbled to receive the PR Firm of the Year award from the UK-India Awards. Sterling Media has always championed the partnership between India and the UK in business, politics and culture and we are delighted to have been recognised for our contribution to the UK-India relationship.

The two nations hold a bond that goes beyond a transactional relationship, becoming a truly transformative one. From the huge demand for specialist doctors and engineers from India in Britain to the UK’s commitment to engaging India as a primary trading partner, the UK-India partnership is proving unbreakable.”

The host of winning businesses across India and the UK also included Standard Chartered, which won The British Asian Trust’s Social Impact Project of the Year, and the London Stock Exchange, which was named The State Bank of India’s Financial Services Organisation of the Year.

Speaking about the UK-India awards and the partnership between the two nations, The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said:

“A significant part of my job is getting the message out to our friends and allies around the world that, despite Brexit, London is – and always will be – open. It was a message I was proud to take to India last year when we took a delegation of businesses to the great cities of Mumbai, Delhi and Amritsar. And one of the most rewarding aspects of our visit was helping to forge new deals – deals that would create new jobs, opportunities and possibilities for Londoners.

“We are doing all we can to boost our links with India. Not just in the fields of business and commerce, but across our cultural and creative industries too. Whether it’s a love of Bollywood or Biryani, cricket or Kabaddi, I know our relationship today is rooted in our shared interests, our shared values and our shared way of life.

“I congratulate all the nominees and winners at these Awards and I hope they will forge new connections that will allow our city and our countries to grow, flourish and thrive for many generations to come.”

This year, the inaugural session of UK-India Week saw senior figures from the UK and India convene for high-level engagements and celebrations of the bond between the two countries. International Trade Secretary Rt. Hon Liam Fox MP, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport Rt. Hon Matt Hancock MP and Shadow Foreign Secretary Rt. Hon Emily Thornberry MP addressed the launch event at the Taj Buckingham Gate Hotel on Monday 18 June.

The 5th annual UK-India Leadership Conclave (20th-21st June this year), featured a line-up of major business, industry and political leaders in the first ever two-day residential summit devoted to growing and developing the UK and India’s strategic relationship. During the conclave, Sterling Media’s Global CEO Natasha Mudhar participated in the Social Impact Roundtable, due to the company’s expertise in leading major social advocacy campaigns. During the panel, Natasha highlighted the power of companies for social good, how companies can be simultaneously profitable and purposeful, why social impact needs to be a company-wide initiative and not just a tick box.

Liberal Democrats party Leader Rt. Hon Sir Vince Cable MP, Former Secretary of State for International Development Rt. Hon Priti Patel MP and Shadow Secretary of State for International Trade & Climate Change Rt. Hon Barry Gardiner MP were among senior UK figures speaking at the Conclave, where discussions focused on the road ahead as Brexit Britain meets Global India.

Manoj Ladwa, Founder of UK-India Week and India Inc., said: “The winning partnership between the UK and India is fostered and enhanced by inspirational figures at the cutting edge of technology, innovation, business, international relations and culture. The UK-India Awards and 100 Most Influential reflects the breadth and depth of those championing this flourishing and dynamic global relationship. While we can never possibly recognise everyone driving this partnership forward, it is vital that we celebrate the most impressive, outstanding and inspiring work to strengthen the bond between our two nations.”
