“Chinese Expression” Scroll Painting Parent-Child Activity of the First International Art Festival of Social Aesthetic Education was successfully held.
On June 1st, hosted by the Art Education Research Center of Central Academy of Fine Arts, Social Art Education Alliance, World Association of Chinese Art Education and Beijing Jin Shangyi Art Foundation, co-organized by Beijing Service Bureau for Diplomatic Missions, ART MUSEUM, Smart Academy of Arts, Yunhe Education Group-Beijing AAS Education Center and Shandong Xinwencui Art Supplies Co., Ltd., “Chinese Expression” Scroll Painting Parent-Child Activity of the First International Art Festival of Social Aesthetic Education was successfully held in the central square of the Diplomatic Residence Compound.
More than three hundred children from all over the country gathered here to create long scroll paintings and spent a very artistic children’s day. Ms. Wang Qian, Member of the Standing Committee of the Women’s Workers’ Committee of the China Federation of Trade Unions, Mr. Jiang Wenbo, Deputy Director of the Liberal Business Department of the Higher Education Press, Mr. Wang Guodong, President of the Beijing Branch of the Jiangxi Fine Arts Publishing House, Mr. Liu Qing, Manager of the Jianwai Property Department of the Beijing Foreign Affairs Service Bureau Housing Company Ms. Ma Jingxi, deputy director of the Central Academy of Fine Arts Education Research Center, founding president of the Social Aesthetic Education Alliance, Ms. Tang Bin, deputy director of the Capital Normal University Primary Education Research Center, and Duan Pengxian, deputy director of the Fine Arts Education Department of the Capital Normal University, Ms. Gao Xiuping, General Manager of Shandong Xinwencui Art Supplies Co., Ltd., Ms. Tang Zeqi, Executive Director of Yunhe Education Group·Beijing AAS, attended the event.
In March 2018, the Art Education Research Center of Central Academy of Fine Arts collected 100 problems in family aesthetic education from the perspective of social aesthetic education. In the study, 42% of the problems came from parents. Family, as the basic unit of social aesthetic education, has a vital impact on children’s aesthetic development. In order to carry forward the spirit of Chinese aesthetic education, we must attach importance to family aesthetic education. On this basis, through the integration of educational resources from all aspects of society, art can truly serve the public and society, and ultimately achieve the goal of comprehensively improving national cultural literacy. As one of the series of activities of the first International Forum on Social Aesthetic Education, on Children’s Day, “Chinese Expression” Scroll Painting Parent-Child Activity of the First International Art Festival of Social Aesthetic Education aims to guide parents to realize the importance of family aesthetic education and establish correct aesthetic education concept through the interaction between children and parents.
In order to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of China, propagate patriotism in the hearts of children, and let them feel the pride and good life of the motherland, this activity is specially designed as “Chinese expression”, which aims to guide children to observe the social environment and understand China, so as to achieve the goal of becoming a new generation of excellence.
With the strong support of the Beijing Service Bureau for Diplomatic Missions, the event also attracted the participation of many diplomats and their families. In the exchange of aesthetic education ideas from different cultural backgrounds, it promotes cultural integration.
At the beginning of the event, the famous artist Jin Shangyi gave a speech for the event and expressed his love and expectation for the children. He hoped that the children would touch the art through painting, appreciate the beauty, and express themselves through painting. He also hoped. More people learn to appreciate beauty and participate in art-related activities.
The organizer of the event, Prof. Ma Jingru from the Central Academy of Fine Arts also delivered a speech. The event collected more than 60,000 works, representing the whole society’s concern for aesthetic education and this event. She also hopes that through this activity, it will be able to influence more people and more families to practice aesthetic education and promote social aesthetic education.

The organizers of this event designed the long scroll as the image of the dragon. As a symbol of China, the dragon is of great significance to the Chinese nation. Two hundred children gathered here to paint the Chinese dragon with childlike ideas, showing their artistic talent and patriotism.
Many of them have excellent paintings. Children used their own brush to paint the China in their eyes. The Chinese characteristics such as Panda, Tiananmen, Peking Opera Mask, Crosstalk, etc. has become part of today’s picture.
A family from Azerbaijan who has drawn the Great Wall of China and the flags of China and Azerbaijan, told us that this represents the long-standing friendship between China and Azerbaijan. Their simple expression has touched everyone.
The team from Macao expresses the beautiful China through the depiction of high-speed rail and famous landmark buildings in Beijing, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau.
When the countdown is 30 minutes, the dragon has already formed, like waiting for the opportunity jumping up and swimming in the sky. The children began to finalize their work. Finally, the long scrolls completed by more than 300 children, including the beauty of the motherland, the Chinese heroes, the cute giant pandas, and children‘s happy faces.
In this happy June 1 International Children’s Day, the children completed their painting and harvested their own unique Children’s Day gift – the hand-painted Chinese dragon. This long scroll was presented as a gift to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a permanent souvenir.
