Application requires Tweet-sized responses to key questions on femtech business plans!

NEW YORK – Breaking news for disruptive technologies aimed at improving women’s health and wellness: HITLAB has extended the submission deadline for the 2019 Autumn HITLAB World Cup: Women’s Health Tech Challenge to Wednesday, Nov. 6. Innovators must submit tight, Tweet-sized responses (280 characters or fewer) to a series of key questions surrounding the project’s target problem, progress made to date, and unique value proposition.

Then they will be in the running for a possible $10,000 prize, in addition to other awards and incredible exposure and networking opportunities with HITLAB and high-profile sponsors.

“We realized that fall is a particularly busy time in the innovation space, so we looked at all of our logistics and realized we could extend the deadline by about two weeks,” explains Savira Dargar, challenge director. “Our goal is to give femtech pioneers from around the world ample time to develop a sharp elevator pitch and zero in on their project’s potential impact.”

The challenge aims to bolster innovation and identify high-potential new technologies to benefit women on a global scale. Concepts can focus on enhancing patient outcomes, lowering healthcare costs without compromising quality, making care management more efficient, and improving patient health and quality of life. Applications will be judged on impact, innovation, sustainability, feasibility, team and quality of work.

Four finalists will be announced on Friday, Nov. 15, and on Thursday, Dec. 5, they will present their technologies to an audience of healthcare, medical, and innovation leaders at the SAP Foundry in New York’s Hudson Yards. They will also compete for a $10,000 award and other valuable prizes donated by a number of healthcare leaders and sponsors.

Sponsors and Knowledge Partners for the Autumn Challenge include Merck Global Innovation Fund, McKinsey & Co., SAP.iO, Horizon Government Affairs, RG+A, and HITLAB Breakthrough Alliance among others.

“Merck Global Health Innovation Fund is excited to partner with HITLAB to build an innovative, disruptive healthcare ecosystem around the wellbeing of women,” says William Taranto, president, Merck Global Health Innovation Fund. “By sponsoring the 2019 HITLAB World Cup: Women’s Health Tech Challenge, our collective goal is to support solutions that empower women to take charge of their health, make informed choices, and access higher standards of care.”
