Shawn Jackson makes history in home town of Vicksburg, MS

VICKSBURG, MS – November 18, 2019 – Vicksburg Mississippi native, Shawn Jackson made history Tuesday evening by becoming the first African American woman elected to the Warren County Board of Supervisors. 

As the Supervisor elect for District 3, she will serve a four year term beginning in January of 2020.

Jackson was born in Vicksburg and raised in her early years in the district she would return to  and run for office years later.  She finished school and attended college in Ithaca, New York, where she graduated from Cornell University with a degree in labor relations and negotiations, before retuning home to Mississippi nearly 10 years ago.

Leading up to Tuesday’s election, Shawn defeated a 23 year incumbent in a primary runoff to win the Democratic nomination which paved the way for Tuesday’s victory.

NaShawndra “Shawn” Jackson is a Cornell University graduate and former strategic consulting for the Monitor Company (currently Monitor Deloitte) where she consulted clients on strategy, business development, and tourism related topics. 

She is the current owner of TrainSpree, a workforce development training and consulting firm, and a former executive manager of a New Markets Tax Credit investment fund.
