How the Canadian Immigration Process Works with Canada Direct
Before you get started on your Canadian immigration journey, it’s important to be familiar with the process

In this article, we’ll outline everything that goes into getting your Canadian immigration approved through Canada Direct – all the way from your initial payment to your letter of approval from the government. Let’s dive into the steps.

Step 1: Initiate a Paid Consultation with One of Our Immigration Experts

This is arguably the most important part of the whole process.  In the beginning, you need to first verify if you’re eligible to immigrate to Canada at all.  There are many ways to successfully immigrate, but it’s crucial to choose which option will be the best for your personal situation.  This is where our team of Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCIC’s) comes in.  When you schedule your consultation, you’ll be paired with an RCIC on our team who has extensive knowledge of Canadian immigration policy.  They will ask you a series of questions, gain a full understanding of your situation and goals, and put together a comprehensive assessment of your immigration status and options with the Canadian government.

Please be advised that since our RCIC team works closely with the Canadian government payment must be made upfront for this consultation.  This is the industry standard for the Canadian immigration market and allow us to provide you with the best possible service from the start.

Step 2: Fill out your Immigration Questionnaire

Following the initial consultation, you’ll be required to fill out Canada Direct’s immigration questionnaire.  This will go over more specifics of your background and life situation such as your language ability (speaking, listening, reading, writing), work experience, education background, and family history.  The information you provide in this questionnaire will help our team nail down the specifics of your Canadian immigration situation and allow us to figure out your best path forward.

Step 3: Review Your Comprehensive Immigration Assessment Report

After your consultation, our RCIC team will get to work to prepare your personalized immigration assessment report.  This is a comprehensive document that will outline all of your possible options for immigrating into Canada.  It’s a lengthy document, so here’s an overview of what’ll be included in your report.

First, you’ll receive your estimated express entry score.  This is a numerical score (maximum of 1,200 points) that assesses the likelihood that you’ll be accepted for one of Canada’s express entry options.  The highest ranking people from each year’s pool of candidates are the ones who get invited to apply as permanent residents through their regular round of invitations.  The higher your score, the better your chances of getting accepted.  We calculate your current score and also include a breakdown of steps you can take to improve it.

Following this, your assessment will include a detailed list of all of your express entry options.  Many of the Canadian provinces have their own specific express entry requirements, so it’s possible that your situation could have a better chance of getting accepted in one part of Canada over another.  Beyond the differences between provinces, there are other general express entry options as well.

These include:

Canadian Experience Class: This option is for skilled workers who have Canadian work experience and are interested in applying for permanent residency.

Job Search with Work Permit: If you’d like to immigrate to Canada through a company, Canada Direct will help you prepare your professional documents (like your resume, cover letter, or portfolio) in the Canadian job market’s preferred format.

Study Permit with Open Work Permit: Studying at a Canadian university or other qualified institution can be a great path into Canada.  To apply for the study permit, you’ll need to show an official acceptance letter from a designated learning institution in Canada.

Family Class/Spouse in Canada Class: Did you get married or establish a common-law relationship with a Canadian citizen?  If so, you may be able to immigrate to Canada under them as your sponsor.  Please let us know if this is something that you’re planning on in the near future as well.

Step 4: Review Potential Issues

Immigrating to Canada is a serious commitment.  It’s important to us that you’re well informed of the obstacles your application may face along the way.  Since we’ve gone through the Canadian immigration process thousands of times, we’re well aware of the issues that can come up.  But either way you can always rely on us to support you through the entire process.

Step 5: Evaluate your Immigration Options and Choose

Now that you’re well aware of your Canadian immigration options it’s time to hone in on the best choice for you.  But before you do that, we always recommend that our clients spend some time in Canada beforehand.  Take a trip to explore different Canadian cities and get a general feel for the country.  Spending time Canada is the only way to make a truly informed decision about the next step in your immigration process.

At the end of your Immigration Assessment Report, we’ll include a section that breaks down your starting options again, as well as information on how to get started with each one.  Then you’ll see a list of all the required documents that you’ll need for your application.  Each starting option has its own document requirements, but most of the documents in the list will apply to all of the entry options.  You won’t need to worry about this though.  When you start working with us we’ll provide you with a detailed list of everything you’ll need for your specific application.

Step 6: Contact Canada Direct if You’re Interested in Moving Forward

At this point all you have to do is contact us and we’ll get your Canadian immigration underway!  We would be pleased to help you work through the process.  People who try to immigrate to Canada on their own often get burnt out by the process.  It’s tedious, confusing, and long, and that’s why we set to make it easier for people.  Our team of Registered Canadian Immigration Consultants has processed thousands of successful immigration applications over the years.  We know what it takes to immigrate to Canada and we will do everything in our power to make it possible for you.

Give us the green light and a member of our team will contact you within a week to discuss the details of your situation.  From that point on we’ll be by your side until the end.

Step 7: Send in Your Application

Once we’ve assessed your personal situation and you’ve selected your preferred immigration option, it’s time to get your application in the mail.  You’ll need to provide all of the required documents and fill out the government application forms.  Then we’ll make sure everything is in perfect order and format before we send it off to the Canadian immigration department.

Step 8: Wait for your Approval

Each Canadian immigration application is different, so processing times vary considerably.  We advise our clients to be prepared for 6 months at the very least.  However, we’ve also seen applications take up to two years.  The best thing you can do is get your application in as soon as possible.
