Award-Winning Screenwriter/Photojournalist launches Kickstarter Campaign for ‘I AM KATHY’
I AM KATHY is an up and coming feature-length documentary film about Kathy Carpenter and it is created by an award-winning American screenwriter/photojournalist Jane Therese. Jane’s storytelling explores the backyard of cultural archetypes and relationships within social customs and beliefs, and this project is no exception. Kathy Carpenter is a strong individual, who petitions her healthcare provider for her gender affirming surgeries, particularly facial feminization and vocal surgery due to gender dysphoria.
Jane’s first feature documentary covers the subject of gender dysphoria, a feeling of distress which can lead to depression, anxiety, and isolation in the transgender population whose gender identity differs from their sex assigned at birth or sex-related physical characteristics.
“After spending her life suffocated by gender dysphoria, Kathy petitions her health care provider for facial feminization surgery, and this documentary film covers Kathy’s two year journey. I’m in awe of what Kathy endured. She’s bright, funny and a true inspiration for all. Right now we are in post-production. That’s what the Kickstarter Campaign is focusing on, finishing funds. It takes a village and there are many steps bringing a film to completion.” Said Jane Therese, while introducing this project to the Kickstarter community. To release this documentary film worldwide, the multi-talented American filmmaker has recently launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, and she is welcoming generous support and backing.
